Just so ya know.

And time goes on...
Well things are still going pretty good at Purdue.
The calculus homework for today was harder for me then I'd gotten used to. Oh you want the reason do you? It's because it had to do with integrals. Yup, integrals. Apparently I've forgotten everything I learned in calc 1, the simplest stuff was stumping me.
In other news, T. Rex has saved me from a horrifically ghastly death by a cocktail of MATLAB and despondency. In the throes of despair I called upon him for assistance and he came through like the tragically heroic aerospace engineer he is!
Tomorrow is the ballroom club callout which I shall be attending if at all possible, and Friday is the Fools callout which I most definitely will be attending. If my foresight is even in the tiniest bit correct that is also the night I shall be setting out on my return journey home for the glorious and highly celebrated Labor Day weekend. During which I shall be laboring...on calculus. I shall also pack and bring back a few sketching supplies. Speaking of sketching, I'd like to share with ya'll a couple of sketches I did the a couple weeks before coming back to school. The first is a horse and is entitled "Untitled". The second is of my lil' bro Shiloh and is entitled "Untitled". And since it won't let me add them to the page below this post you will find both "Untitled" and "Untitled" in the next post up.

Dear Diary...
....Today I met the man of my dreams-
Haha, just kidding. Actually I just finished my calculus homework. Now there's a good time!
Today concludes the first week of classes of Fall 2006 at Purdue. Go Boilermakers! So far things are going pretty good. I do believe that the graphics course I'm in will be quite fun. The aero course could get into some pretty tough material, but with my strong background in physics I'm hoping it will go smoothly. The calculus is going well so far and philosophy is still just philosophy.
Tonight the Ship of Fools will be doing a show at a huge "Back to School Bash" and I will be trying my best to tape it.
Speaking of film and Fools, tomorrow I shall begin my training for the elusive and revered title of Film Editor. I have reserved a computer workstation in the Digital Learning Collaborative that is supposed to be able to convert VHS to digital media. At the moment my plan is to try and put a couple small clips on the web for download, and possibly edit larger portions for burning to DVD. We'll see how it goes. I have 2 1/2 hours tomorrow afternoon to devote to the first attempt. If that goes well, flush with success, I shall reserve another small block of time for Sunday. If it does not go well then I shall return to my dorm, cry into my pillow, eat lots of junk food, and finally flunk out of school after spiraling into an irreversible and awesome depression.
Keep your fingers crossed.
~"What kind of savage do you think I am?"
"Umm, an ugly one?"~
Quotes by Robert and Edwin, respectively. Spawned from the mind of Renee.

Jailhouse Rock...
...OK, so most of you who know me will have heard me jest at least once about how collectively insane my family is. Those who know me a little bit better will also know that I am actually fairly serious when mentioning this. Before totally losing myself in the telling of this wondrous tale, let me give you a bit of history:
My mom divorced my dad. Not to much later my dad imported a brand new bride (Emmee) from the Philippines (they met via internet). On Christmas Eve of last year (yes, 2005) a child was born. Let me tell you something, it's kinda strange to have a new little half-brother that you will never get to know because you can't stand being around your father (do I sound bitter?). OK, that's enough history.
I just got a call from my mom and it turns out that my dad spent a night in jail. Yup, in jail. Apparently dad tried to choke Emmee and she called the police. He's got a trial coming up in a couple of days and there was a restraining order against him, but somebody posted bail and mom said that he was back at home today.
Dad was always violently tempered and abusive in many ways, but not physically. This is a new high for him.
My main worry at the time is that either Emmee will stay with him and end up getting hurt worse, or will decide to take the baby and return to the Philippines in which case my little brother Shiloh will be heart broken. He loves Emmee, but the baby is his absolute pride and joy.
Most of my family, though crazy as hatters, are fairly harmless...I thought...I still like to think...
It's interesting to note that I am now in the league of people with relatives who could be on Cops.
And you wonder why I'm strange...

The move had been made...
...And it feels good to be back at Purdue. I was pretty nervous about meeting the new roomie after last year's fiasco, but she seems very nice and friendly and down to earth (she has a reasonable number of shoes, and books instead of just make-up).
I've got all my stuff unpacked and shoved into corners. I think I did good, I didn't pack nearly as much stuff this semester. Granted, I did forget a couple of things...like the power cord to my computer (I bought another, rather then wait until I went home).
Which brings me to my next topic, I've got cable again! The dial-up is no more! The days of waiting ten minutes (or more) for a page to load are past! I can watch Strongbad answer his emails again! You can't see me, but I am grinning!
I just got word that there is going to be an improv show tomorrow night. That makes me ridiculously happy! I don't have to wait the 5 whole days until Friday for my improv fix. The world truly is a beautiful place!

Deja vu....
Ok, so barely out of the gate with the first little survey post thingy and I found another one I liked. This one was lifted off Benji.
~
Fourteen Questions That I Actually Want My Friends to Answer.
1. If you could, would you want to live forever? Just "yes" or "no."
No!!!
2. If money was absolutely not an object, what would your dream job be?
Aerospace engineer
3. If you found a baby on your doorstep, what would you do?
Hug it!
4. If I suddenly turned into a goat, would you take care of me?
Sure! If you weren't one of those belligerent goats that is.
5. Honestly, how prejudiced do you think you are?
I hope not at all.
6. Who is the single most talented person in the world?
Ummmmm....this is a hard one.....Benji. Yup, has to be Benji.
7. Name something in your life that you think is a load of shit. (Organized religion, the price of gas, kittens, whatever.)
The general public's willful ignorance about environmental issues.
8. Would you rather not be able to write, or not be able to read?
Ooh, dang...I'll have to say write.
9. On a scale from 1 to 100, how much do you seize life by the horns? (100 is carpe diem.)
3
10. Name something you do to impress other people.
Leap tall buildings in a single bound.
11. Give yourself a new name.
Smiley McGee
12. You have your arch-nemesis in front of you and a license to kill. How do you do it?
I would bore him to death with my vast knowledge of how to gracefully eat rice and Mama's home cooked chicken dumplings with chopsticks.
13. Do you believe in an afterlife? Yes or no.
Yes
14. Do you think now is a good time to be alive?
Sure
~
Ahh, that was fun!
In Retrospect:
I entitled this post Deja vu, but could it have been more appropriate to call it Deja moo? The feeling that you've heard this bull before....
